📘 General SERU Assessment FAQs

The Pedicab SERU (Safety, Equality and Regulatory Understanding) assessment tests your knowledge of TfL Pedicab regulations and English language skills. It’s computer-based and based on the Pedicab Driver Handbook.

If:

  • For new applicants: after you submit your pedicab application and before TfL can issue your licence.
  • For existing drivers: before TfL can renew your licence. 

You must pass the pedicab SERU assessment to be licensed or re-licensed as a London pedicab driver.

There are 36 questions:

  • 24 Multiple Choice
  • 12 Fill in the Blank
  • 2 Reading & Understanding

The assessment lasts 60 minutes.

You need at least 60% to pass. Most students get two attempts.

Yes. You must complete the online safeguarding awareness training before sitting the Pedicab SERU assessment. It’s self-paced and not supervised.

No. The TfL Pedicab SERU is different from the PHV Driver SERU assessment. Each has its own handbook and rules.
